Grantham-2 Lost Away Match to Nottingham Central

Grantham-2 team lost last night in away match to Nottingham Central 3½:1½. The match was decided by two loses on the top and bottom board.

Ivan David lost on the top board after a bleak performance with White pieces to John Harrison who displayed perfect positional "pressing" in the Closed English ("reversed Botvinnik" setup).





On the bottom board, Joe Scarborough was not able to keep up the pace with higher rated Mark Radford. 

There were three draws for Andy Hebert, Ben Mason and Chris Holt.

Special recognition must go to Chris Holt, who again played very well, he achieved perhaps won position and he even saw the winning continuation; however, with the flags hanging both opponents agreed a draw. Let's have a look at Chris's game with his own annotations.
