In the first match Grantham 2 played home and beat the surprise of last season - Gambit 3. On the top board Andrew Hebert crushed Keith Roper very quickly. Keith blundered a pawn and then Andrew, playing Black, put his Knight on d3-square and there was no doubt who will dictate the terms in this game.
Another big surprise was Grantham player on the board 5, Callum Foard, graded 111, who beat with Black pieces Gary Hopkinson, graded 140! An excellent debut for talented junior.

Last Wednesday Grantham 2 went away for match with the traditional rival Long Eaton with very strong player on the top Board - Raymond Evans. However, Grantham top player Andy Hebert did not give him a single chance and gained very important point for Grantham as well as for himself.

Another very important point for Grantham 2 gained former King's School junior Will Grummitt.
Well, so far so good!
