Chris Holt lost, on top board to Peter Sherlock, when in a better position.
Ben Mason's match, against Dave Bull, looked to be heading for a draw when his opponent made a slight mistake which meant he would have gained a slight material advantage of a pawn and opted to resign in what was likely to be a lost position.
This left Gren Wollerton needing a at least a draw against Charles Moss to secure the match victory. Though Gren was a queen up his other remaining piece, a bishop, was in an awkward position and with opponents rook and knight, supported with pawns, Gren had a to battle to gain a significant advantage, which he eventually found to win the game and secure the 3-1 victory that keeps Grantham top of the league with two games to go.
